Why ABC News Suspended Terry Moran After His ‘Hater’ Post About Trump and Stephen Miller

Published

ABC News has suspended senior national correspondent Terry Moran after he posted a late-night social media comment calling former President Donald Trump and his aide Stephen Miller “world-class haters.”

NEWS - ABC News coverage of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois from August 19 through August 22, 2024. TERRY MORAN. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller speaks to reporters following a television interview, outside the West Wing on May 9, 2025 at the White House in Washington

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after midnight, Moran claimed that while Trump uses hate as a tool for personal glorification, Miller is fueled by it directly.

“Trump’s hatred is a means to an end — his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment,” Moran wrote.
“But Miller? Hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”

The post was deleted hours later, but not before it drew fierce condemnation from Trump administration officials and right-wing commentators.

White House Responds Swiftly

Karoline Leavitt, press secretary for the Trump administration, publicly demanded accountability from ABC News.

“We have reached out to ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable,” she wrote on X.
“Hopefully this journalist will either be suspended or terminated,” she added in an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.

Just an hour after Leavitt’s remarks, ABC News confirmed Moran’s suspension, issuing a brief statement:

“ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks. The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards,” a spokesperson said.

From the Oval Office to Out of Office

The incident comes just weeks after Moran scored a rare one-on-one Oval Office interview with Trump in April, seen as a major moment for the network. Now, the veteran journalist and former Nightline anchor is off-air, pending further review.

Miller, Vance Fire Back

Stephen Miller, often regarded as the architect of Trump’s immigration policies and a lightning rod for criticism, also weighed in.

“The most important fact about Terry’s full public meltdown is what it shows about the corporate press,” Miller wrote.
“Terry pulled off his mask.”

Vice President J.D. Vance came to Miller’s defense, calling him “motivated by love of country” and demanding an apology from ABC News.

A Rare Move in Mainstream Media

While heated political commentary is common on cable news and online platforms, it is highly unusual for a mainstream network correspondent to post personal political attacks — especially one of Moran’s seniority and visibility.

The post has reignited debates over journalistic impartiality, freedom of expression, and the growing tension between political figures and the media in the 2024 election cycle and beyond.

Texas Lottery Scandal Shakes State as $95 Million Jackpot Sparks Fraud Probe and Leadership Fallout

The global lottery market is experiencing a dynamic transformation in 2025, driven by technological innovations, regulatory shifts, and evolving consumer behavior. A leading trend emerging this year is the use of advanced AI and quantum computing platforms, such as Lottery Unlocked, which analyze billions of past lottery draws to achieve predictive accuracies of up to 83%. These technologies are reshaping how serious players approach number selection, moving beyond pure chance toward data-driven strategies.

Meanwhile, major industry players continue to invest in digitization and modernization. For example, the UK National Lottery is navigating its first year under new operator Allwyn, introducing stricter safeguards like purchase limits and planning innovative games, although some ambitions have been delayed due to operational challenges. The broader European Union is pursuing regulatory reforms aimed at harmonizing rules across member states, helping to balance growth with responsible gaming measures.

Market reports project robust growth, estimating the lottery sector will expand by over $230 billion globally between 2025 and 2029, fueled predominantly by rising online lottery participation and technological adoption. However, the industry also faces hurdles, such as stringent regional regulations and growing calls from health organizations for clearer gambling addiction warnings on lottery marketing.

Consumer strategies are evolving as well, with expert advice emphasizing smarter play through understanding “hot” and “cold” numbers, avoiding popular patterns, and optimizing coverage to enhance payout potential without increasing risk. Educational content and tools are increasingly prevalent, helping players make informed choices.

Overall, 2025’s lottery news landscape reflects a complex interplay: burgeoning opportunities through innovation and market growth balanced by regulatory pressures and responsible gaming concerns. This evolving environment is setting the stage for a more transparent, tech-savvy, and player-conscious lottery industry worldwide.
