Dermstore is selling its 2025 Beauty Advent Calendar for $250, a box the retailer values at $1,145 — a discount of roughly 78% off the combined retail price of the products inside.
The calendar contains 25 days of beauty products, spanning skincare, makeup, and haircare from brands the retailer carries. Advent calendars of this type have become an annual fixture in the beauty industry, with retailers using them to move sample sizes and full-size items while drawing holiday shoppers to their sites.
At $250, the box costs about $10 per day of product, based on the 25-day count. The $895 gap between the $1,145 stated value and the $250 price is the headline number Dermstore is using to market the set.
Beauty advent calendars typically sell out before December, and retailers often release them in limited quantities. Dermstore has not disclosed how many units it has stocked for this year's run. The company operates as an online-only beauty retailer and is owned by Y Combinator-backed parent Thrasio, which acquired it in 2021.
Similar calendars from competitors have drawn comparable markups in past seasons. Sephora's advent calendar and Glossybox's holiday box have both advertised retail values several times their asking price, a practice that lets brands place products in front of customers who might not otherwise try them.
The math behind the $1,145 figure is based on the manufacturer's suggested retail price of each item, not what a shopper would actually pay if buying the products individually at discount. That distinction matters for anyone comparing the $250 price against the stated value.
Dermstore has not announced a specific sellout date. The calendar is available now on the retailer's website.
